We are happy to introduce the Czech translation of the ‘Understanding HAE’ brochure, published by HAE International (HAEi) in 2022. This is the 3rd Czech translation of HAEi's patient educational materials – we had previously provided the Czech HAE community with translated versions of the HAEi educational poster for healthcare professionals and of the children's illustrated book ‘The Rare Boy and the Talkative Little Balloon’, written by Natasa Angjeleska.
The newly translated guidebook helps the patients to get familiar with the rare disease hereditary angioedema and gives all the necessary information for anyone interested in HAE.
The chapters of the brochure cover the nature and symptoms of HAE, diagnostic procedures, available treatment options or specific situations and patient groups. The last section contains information about HAE International, its activities and projects for the global HAE patient community. The booklet offers significant benefits for newly diagnosed patients who will find everything they need to understand their disease.
Despite the challenging reality of this incurable disease, the text also gives a positive outlook on the patient’s situation as well as some inspiration on how to manage the disease. The text contains practical travel tips, information about useful mobile apps, international patient communities for sharing experiences and peer support, as well as an overview of projects, events and conferences for adults and youth with HAE.
The Czech translation of ‘Understanding HAE’ can be now downloaded for free in the Information Centre on our website www.haejunior.cz.
