Patient advocacy in the Czech Republic was presented as a best practice example.
In October 2025, the HAE Junior team attended the HAEi EMEA conference, held in Rome. Our team included HAE juniors and caregivers, who together represented the Czech patient community. HAE Junior regularly attends this major international event, organized by HAE International, which takes place once every two years.
The conference’s main theme was "Embracing Opportunities." And there have, indeed, been many opportunities opening up lately, thanks to intensive research and development of therapeutic advancements that further enhance the quality of life prospects for HAE patient families.
Internationally renowned HAE researchers and experts gave lectures at the conference, explaining to the audience how care for HAE patients has improved and how it can be further enhanced in the coming years.
Our experience in the field of patient advocacy in the Czech Republic was showcased as an example of good practice.
The program also featured a series of interactive workshops focused on strengthening the community and educating adolescent patients. Our juniors engaged in youth-oriented activities, exchanged experiences, and formed friendships with peers from across Europe, Africa or the Middle East. It was inspiring to see young patients taking the initiative and looking with courage toward a future where an HAE diagnosis no longer means limitations.
HAE Junior delegation was able to attend this prestigious conference thanks to the generous support of HAE International and our partners: Astria Therapeutics, CSL Behring, Pharvaris, KalVista, the Association for Plasmapheresis, and Takeda.
