Back to school can be a challenging time for some HAE juniors and their parents. Regular attendance, school trips or camps can be unpleasantly complicated by unpredictable HAE symptoms ...
Prevention and communication between parents, children and teachers are therefore highly important for a smooth beginning of the school year.
Parents should inform the teacher about the child's illness, draw attention to the possibility of swelling and mention the recommended procedures in case of occurrence. Before leaving for multi-day trips, be sure to pack your child’s medication and provide dosing instructions.
“HAE & school” leaflet (in Czech) can assist both parents and teachers with the most important recommendations. It is best to print the leaflet and hand it to the class teacher right at the beginning of the school year. It is also essential to talk to your children, remind them how to deal in case of HAE swellings and give them courage.
We wish all schoolchildren and their parents a successful start of the new school year!
